Welcome

We create value from information.   About Us

We do so by:

  • developing methods to generate insights about organizations and customers from small and big data
  • generating empirical knowledge of individual and group behavior in markets
  • designing information systems for organizations and the society
  • shaping the digital transformation of organizations and society.

With 7 professors  and associated research groups we contribute to research, education and innovation in the fields of information systems and marketing.

Successful PhD defenses by Lara Riefle
Successful PhD defenses by Lara Riefle

Congratulations to (now Dr.) Lara Riefle for a successful defense of her Ph.D. thesis “Adoption and Use of AI-based Systems: The Impact of Individual Character Traits” at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology.

While we are used that products are or can be tailored to individual users (e.g. clothing), AI-based systems still mostly offer a “one-size-fits-all” design. Both initial adoption and continued (re-)use of AI-based services may be enhanced, though, by "tailoring" them to individual character traits of users. Lara has done groundwork in this area, advanced our understanding of behavioral impacts, and demonstrated the capabilities of such approaches in a variety of experiments.

Successful PhD defenses by Patrick Hemmer
Successful PhD defenses by Patrick Hemmer

Congratulations to Dr. Patrick Hemmer!

Patrick defended his thesis at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) on "Complementarity in Human-AI Teams: Conceptualization and Design Support for Effective Decision-Making". A cool contribution to defining and measuring the power of humans and AI joining forces as well as to developing and testing new methods to leverage human-AI teams. So all about "AI together with human" instead of "AI rather than human"....

New Job Opportunity: Doctoral Student Position “Digital Networking Platforms” in cooperation between KIT and CAS Software AG

Digital networking platforms enable an increase in transparency and openness by intensifying the dialogue and networking between people in business, science and society. In business, effective networking with customers in the development and optimization of products and services is becoming increasingly important. In science, the "Open Science" paradigm with practices such as Citizen Science aims to increase the relevance and acceptance of research through interaction with citizens. In society, the pursuit of participatory decision-making processes in politics is becoming increasingly important.
